A phone conversation is normally the best way to ascertain the essential objectives of an event and whether we can find a format and theme to suit. Key elements to agree at this stage include potential dates, timing, venue, audience, numbers, suitable potential formats and budget range.
Once the broad outline of the event has been agreed, further details to be finalised include:
- Choice / range of wines to be tasted
- Provision of appropriate glasses
- Water / bread / biscuits / spittoons
- Seating format / tasting stations if walk-around tasting
- Food arrangements during / following wine tasting
Generally, an event can be organised over the phone, but sometimes, especially for larger events, a meeting and venue inspection may be necessary. Once format, date and budget have been agreed, a downpayment of 50% of the fee is required of the client to secure the booking.
On the day of the event, we expect to arrive in good time to set up the event and to supply the wines, tasting sheets, glassware and any other materials required by the tasters. Richard Bampfield will present the wine tasting himself and will arrange for the service of the wines, unless desired / agreed otherwise. The duration depends on individual requirements, but a typical event would last one and half to two hours.
Please note: Final settlement is due within 14 days of the event.
